In ancient Rome, for example, the baths were not private - many people bathed together in large aqueduct-fed pools. The earliest known private bathtub was made of pottery.

Later, bathtubs were made of metal or wood, resembling large buckets.

With no indoor plumbing, water had to be drawn from a well or stream, heated over a fire, and poured into the bath. Later, clawfoot tubs became popular.

1. Begin the bathtub outline by drawing a large rectangle with rounded corners. This forms the top of the bathtub. Then, outline the side using straight lines. Notice that there are rounded corners where they meet.

2. Draw a smaller rectangle with rounded corners inside the first. Then, use a long line to complete the outline of the bathtub's side.

3. Contour the top of the tub with a long "L" shaped line, noting the rounded corner. Then, draw the irregular oval shapes of the tub's feet. Use a curved line to indicate the corner of the tub.

4. Draw the foot near the back of the bathtub. Then, begin drawing the faucet, erasing as necessary. Use "J" shaped lines to outline the faucet, and band it with curved lines at the bottom.

5. Draw a curved rectangle to enclose the spout of the faucet. Then, use a circle and a small triangle to draw the handle.

6. Draw another circle within the previous one. Then, draw three small oval shapes around the handle.

7. Use curved lines to draw the oval shapes of the remaining handle.

8. Next, draw water coming from the faucet. Enclose the shape using curved lines, and then texture the water with additional curved lines. Draw a "C" shaped ripple around the bottom. Finally, use curved lines to draw the waterline of the water within the tub.

9. Complete your bathtub outline by drawing teardrop-shaped splashes and additional ripples.

Color your cartoon bathtub. Most bathtubs are white or cream, but they can also be other colors. Don't forget the bubbles!
